Maggie Loves Microfiber

I love microfiber cloths! They are so handy and do a great job of cleaning. They hold up to “vigorous” use far better than paper towels, and don’t leave behind a trail of lint like a cotton towel can. When the cloths become dirty, toss them into the washing machine. I can’t even begin to count the number of times I have been able to reuse a microfiber cloth!

Always keep a few microfiber cloths in the bathroom and kitchen because they will clean and shine the chrome/metal fixtures and are great for wiping off the sink. If they are right there, a quick swipe will get the toothpaste spittle off the mirror before it has time to dry - reducing the need for harsh ammonia-based glass cleaners. Win/Win.

You can use a gentle microfiber cloth to take the dust off live or artificial houseplants. Lightly dampen a microfiber cloth and wipe over the leaves. This will also add a bit of moisture to the real plants too.

Microfiber cloths are especially good for electronic equipment. Wipe away fingerprints on cell phones, tablets and monitors without adding harmful moisture or solvents. Pet hair, dust, ashes from smoking can migrate into your computer and clog the open holes. Cover the hose attachment of your vacuum with a microfiber cloth to remove pet hair and dust from the back of your computer. Clean the monitor case with a slightly damp microfiber cloth. Be sure to also dust the power cords, floor, and the area around the computer, printer and auxiliary equipment, too. Television and laptop screens are more delicate than people realize. First, unplug the power cord. Lift off fingerprints or dust by wiping the screen with a dry microfiber cloth. NEVER apply any solvent on the screens.

When you can depend on a bit of cloth instead of harsh chemicals that is the modern-maid way of doing things. And the bonus is adding those cloths to the laundry for reuse - even MORE modern!

Until next time, Maggie XOXO
